Formation, development and achievements

More than thirty years of progress: safeguarding the country’s economic security and building the state gold reserve and precious metals fund.

Origins

The Foundation of a Public Service

In the first years of independence, preserving and effectively managing the nation’s wealth took on particular importance. By Presidential Decree No. 398 of 19 December 1991, the Precious Metals Administration, the State Depository of Valuables (Gokhran) and the Assay Supervision Inspectorate were established — laying the foundation for state regulation of the industry.

In 2009, by Government Resolution No. 733, the Department of Precious Metals was created on the basis of the Administration. Today it is the principal state body for managing the state fund, replenishing the gold reserve and conducting operations with precious metals.
